I think it my duty further to inform you, that, upon a very full & thorough deliberation before me, in Council, upon the State of the Province, it appear'd that the construction of another Powder Magazine, in some part of it near the Centre, was indispensibly necessary; lest if the Enemy shou'd at any time (which God forbid) make themselves masters of Charlestown, where your only Magazine now is, the rest of the Province shou'd be thereby render'd, in a great measure, if not wholly, incapable of defense; & I intreat You to take this matter into your most serious consideration.

I am persuaded it is needless for me to exhort you to attend to these & all other matters, with respect to the defense of this Province, in such a manner as becomes the wisdom of your House in the present very dangerous Conjuncture.
