The War at Home

Students explore the home front during World War II in this fifth grade lesson.  The students look at pictures of era artifacts, learn about the prevalence of the radio, discuss Japanese internment camps, talk about rationing, and even eat cupcakes from an “eggless, milkless, butterless,” recipe.  Students then brainstorm what images could be used to represent different aspects of home front life.
