The Industrialization and Urbanization of the Upstate of South Carolina

In this seventh grade lesson students see the influence of industrialization on their hometown.  By looking at Sanborn Insurance Maps and photographs from the Greenville Historical Society students see how the town grew and can compare those images with the Greenville they know today.  Students are able to make inferences from the larger concepts of industrialization and urbanization that they learned about when studying Great Britain, and apply that knowledge to their study of South Carolina.
