Teacher Lesson Ideas

Comparing the South Carolina and United States Constitutions offers students an opportunity to understand delegated, reserved, and concurrent powers. Students will first engage in a role-play activity in which group members are divided into federalists and anti-federalists at the Constitutional Convention to decide whether the national or state government should receive certain responsibilities. Once their list is complete they will examine the state and national constitutions to see what the framers of the Constitution agreed upon.
