Bomb Shelters

This high school lesson uses bomb shelter ads and political cartoons to help students understand the fear of nuclear attack by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.  Bomb shelter ads provide practical advice on how to build bomb shelters that can protect people from radiation. The political cartoons address issues relating to the threat of communism and Soviet sympathizers within the United States.  These cartoons were sent to Senator Strom Thurmond from the artists.
