How Do We Work for Change?

Fifth grade students read about the Civil Rights Movement and create their own posters and banners to carry in a school dramatization of a Civil Rights march.  The students will also travel to the Martin Luther King Center in Atlanta, Georgia to learn more about this leaders instrumental role in the movement.  At the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to express how their lives might have been different if people in the past had not been willing to fight for the rights of African-Americans.
