What to Expect:
- A full day event, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 23 with content sessions in the morning and workshops in the afternoon
- Many sessions will focus on original materials in the collections of the SC State Archives
- Forum aligns with the National History Day theme for 2010-2011: “Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences”
- Registration is open to social studies teachers of all grade levels, particularly those teaching 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, and High School
Presenters include:
- Karl Rohr, Newberry College
- Peter Seibert, National Council for History Education
- Kevin Witherspoon, Lander University
- Marc Turner, Blythewood High
- And many more...
Reasons to Attend:
- All sessions promote historical thinking skills and student engagment with primary and secondary sources beyond the textbooks
- All attendees receive a binder of materials relating to sessions
- With paid registration, all attendees will receive a one-year membership to the National Council for History Education
- Options for tours of the State Archives and research opportunities in the reference room
- Networking opportunities with other history educators and public historians from across the state
