A note regarding our Cultural Institutions
Teaching American History in South Carolina strives to provide online access to the Palmetto State's unique cultural
institutions. Museums and historic sites in South Carolina offer teachers
a variety of educational programs and resources for the classroom (and
the field trip).
Each Cultural Institution page presents information relevant to a museum
or historic site in South Carolina. Teachers can find contact information
and links to websites, as well as primary sources and teaching materials
relating to each of these cultural institutions. Teachers can take
virtual tours of select museums and historic sites, which will encourage
greater appreciation of the value of historic places, documents, and objects.
These cultural institution pages provide online opportunities for numerous
teachable moments as students discover history through local
cultural resources.
Links to Cultural Institutions currently available on TeachingUShistory.org
are provided below. Check
this pages often for updates and new information.
